Why Men Are Walking Away from Woke Hyper-Liberal Society
The mainstream media is once again baffled. Why are growing numbers of men, especially young men, disengaging from work, relationships, marriage, and broader society: Men Going Their Own Way (MGTOW)? They call it a "crisis of masculinity," a "lost generation," or the rise of the misogyny phenomenon. Yet the answer is staring them in the face: modern woke hyper-liberal society has become actively toxic to men.
For decades, feminism and its institutional allies have waged a sustained cultural campaign against traditional masculinity. Boys are told from school onward that their natural energy, competitiveness, and risk-taking are problems to be medicated or socialised out of them. In the workplace and universities, DEI policies and affirmative action openly discriminate against men, particularly White men. In family courts and divorce proceedings, men are routinely treated as disposable financial ATMs rather than equal parents.
The results are predictable. Why commit to a system that demonises you?
A Society Engineered Against Male NatureModern woke liberal society has dismantled the traditional male role without offering a viable replacement. Men once found purpose as providers, protectors, and builders. Today they are told those instincts are "toxic." Marriage is portrayed as a trap. Fatherhood is optional or secondary to women's careers. The education system favours female learning styles, leaving boys bored, restless, and falling behind. The corporate world increasingly demands emotional performativity and ideological compliance over competence and stoicism.
At the same time, economic pressures have intensified. Good-paying trade and manufacturing jobs have been offshored or automated, while service-sector jobs often feel low-status and mismatched with male strengths. The welfare state and easy access to pornography, video games, and social media provide low-effort dopamine substitutes for the real-world achievement and status men historically sought.
Feminism's "victory" has come at a steep civilisational cost. Birth rates have collapsed. Marriage is in decline. Young men see little incentive to strive in a society that treats them as suspect by default. The "quiet quitting" of life, withdrawing from education, work, and family formation, is a rational response to irrational conditions.
The Media's Blind SpotThe media, steeped in the same Leftist ideological assumptions, refuses to acknowledge the obvious. Instead of confronting how feminism, no-fault divorce, affirmative action, and the war on "toxic masculinity" have alienated men, they blame "Right-wing extremism," video games, or "economic anxiety" while ignoring the deeper cultural hostility.
Men are not walking away because they are lazy or broken. They are walking away because the deal on offer is terrible. A society that constantly tells half its population that their very nature is problematic, while demanding they continue to subsidise and support the system through taxes, labour, and deferred gratification, should not be surprised when that half opts out.
Reversing this trend requires rejecting the toxic elements of hyper-liberalism. Schools must stop pathologising normal boy behaviour. Family law must be reformed for fairness. Cultural messaging needs to celebrate competent, responsible masculinity again rather than pathologise it. Economic policy should prioritise productive work that gives men purpose and dignity.
Men respond to incentives. When a society makes being a responsible adult man punishing and thankless, many will simply check out. The data on male labour force participation, marriage rates, suicide, and "failure to launch" all point to the same conclusion: woke hyper-liberal society is driving men away.
The media can keep asking, why? The answer has been obvious for years. Until the culture stops attacking male nature and starts valuing what men uniquely bring to civilisation, the exodus will continue, and the West will pay the price, as the creators of civilisation, can also bury it by voting with their feet.
