Dr Mercola on Natural Health vs Big Pharma
The natural way of approaching health is, in my view, and Dr Mercola's (link below), far superior to the conventional pharmaceutical model. It works with the body's own intelligence, focuses on fixing the root causes rather than just masking symptoms, and stays free from the heavy influence of profit-driven institutions.
The mainstream medical system is largely built around suppressing sickness with drugs rather than truly healing. It often ignores the underlying biological reasons why people get sick in the first place. In contrast, natural strategies, centred on good nutrition, herbal medicine, detoxification, and sensible lifestyle changes, tend to be safer, more effective, and genuinely healing.
A core belief in the natural health approach is that the body has an amazing ability to heal itself when given the right support. The conventional model, however, relies heavily on pharmaceutical drugs that often interfere with normal body processes. Take statin drugs, for example. They're widely prescribed to lower cholesterol, yet they don't address the real drivers of heart disease like poor diet, chronic inflammation, oxidative stress, or mitochondrial dysfunction. Worse still, they can create new problems by damaging the body's own cellular energy systems.
The natural approach instead aims to support the body's natural ability to regulate and repair itself. Conditions like type 2 diabetes, for instance, often respond far better to addressing diet, lifestyle, and underlying imbalances than to simply relying on synthetic insulin or other medications. Many diseases, including some cancers, can be prevented, managed, or even reversed when we remove the toxins and give the body what it truly needs: real food, herbs, light therapy, and proper nutrition.
The pharmaceutical industry has sometimes created the impression that we need expensive drugs for problems that could be handled through natural means. The push for "high cholesterol" medication is a classic example of this, often prioritising profit over patient wellbeing.
Even more concerning is how the established medical system, particularly through bodies like the FDA, has worked to suppress natural medicine in order to protect pharmaceutical interests. This has left many people stuck in a system that profits from ongoing sickness rather than genuine health. There's a real lack of transparency, and patients deserve better.
At the end of the day, true health comes from addressing the foundations: clean food, fresh water, good sleep, stress management, detoxification from heavy metals and chemicals, and supporting the body's natural defences. When we do that, we often see lower costs, better outcomes, and far healthier people.
