Is this likely? I think that it is not an ideal bluff, although the Russians are the masters of the bluff. Yet, losing the war is not an option for Putin, for it will undermine his hold on power. He is ruthless enough from his time in the KGB to go for broke and to hell with the costs. Yet NATO cannot afford to lose either as it will undermine it as well, especially the US. And communist China is waiting its time to take out Taiwan. So, as I see it, World War III is inevitable, and probably has happened already.
