German Chancellor Friedrich Merz did the unthinkable in March 2026. In the middle of a debate on violence against women — both physical and digital — he stated the obvious:

"We have an explosion of violence in our society… Then we also need to talk about where this violence comes from. And then we must also address the fact that a considerable proportion of this violence comes from immigrant groups in the Federal Republic of Germany."

The Left exploded. Accusations of "racism," "stigmatising migrants," and "AfD rhetoric" flew instantly. How dare a sitting chancellor notice patterns in official crime data?

Here are the facts Merz was referencing, straight from the Bundeskriminalamt (BKA) police crime statistics:

The foreign share among criminal offenders rose from 29% in 2014 to 41.8% in 2024.

For serious violent crimes — assault, rape, gang rape, and murder—the overrepresentation of migrants is even higher.

At the same time, over 60% of all deportation attempts fail.

These aren't fringe numbers. They are official German government figures. Foreign nationals make up roughly 17% of the population but account for nearly 42% of known criminal suspects. The gap widens dramatically for the worst offences. And once they're here, the system can't — or won't — remove the worst offenders.

Yet the radical Left's response is reflexive denial, deflection, and moral outrage aimed at the messenger. Which raises the uncomfortable hypothetical question at the heart of this essay:

What would it actually take for the radical/progressive Left to admit that mass, unvetted immigration from culturally incompatible regions is creating a serious, measurable problem?

Would bodies need to pile 10 high on the street?

Probably not.

Let's run the thought experiment honestly.

Scenario 1: The Data Deluge

We already have the data. Decades of European studies (Sweden's rape statistics, France's banlieue crime maps, Denmark's ghetto lists, the UK's grooming-gang scandals, Germany's own BKA reports) all show the same pattern: young male migrants from certain ethno-racial cohorts are dramatically overrepresented in violent crime, sexual assault, and gang activity. The numbers have been public for years.

The Left's response? "Correlation is not causation." "Poverty and racism explain it." "You're cherry-picking." "All crime is bad, why focus on this?" The data is dismissed as "racist statistics" or blamed on "systemic Islamophobia" that supposedly provokes the violence. No amount of longitudinal, peer-reviewed evidence has ever been enough.

Scenario 2: Visible Chaos in Real Time

Suppose violence escalates further. Suppose we reach the point where bodies literally piled 10 high after yet another knife attack, gang shooting, or no-go-zone riot. We've already seen Solingen, Würzburg, Paris banlieue car-burnings, Swedish grenade attacks, and UK grooming scandals involving thousands of girls. The radical Left's reaction?

"This is a mental health issue."

"It's the fault of far-Right provocation."

"We must not let terrorists win by changing policy."

"Root causes = colonialism, climate change, and inequality."

They will mourn the victims in hashtags, light candles, and then pivot immediately to demanding more immigration and more funding for "integration" programs that have already failed for two generations.

Scenario 3: The Political Reckoning

Even if centrist and conservative voters hand the Left a string of electoral defeats explicitly over immigration (as happened in multiple German state elections and is building nationally), the response from the activist core is never "we got this wrong." It's "the electorate has been radicalised by disinformation" or "we need to fight harder against the rising tide of fascism."

Why Evidence Never Seems to Matter

This isn't about data. It's about a sacred ideological narrative. For much of the modern Left, especially the activist/academic/media class:

"Diversity" is an unqualified moral good.

Any criticism of mass immigration is definitionally racist, xenophobic, and far-Right.

Western societies owe an unpayable debt to the Global South.

National borders and cultural cohesion are outdated, even immoral concepts.

Once those premises are accepted as articles of faith, no counter-evidence can penetrate. Admitting the policy has costs would require abandoning the entire worldview. It would mean acknowledging that open-border idealism has real victims — both native citizens and the well-behaved migrants who get tarred by association. That is psychologically and professionally untenable for people whose careers, social status, and self-image are built on being "on the right side of history."

Friedrich Merz is being attacked not because he's wrong, but because he's refusing to participate in the denial ritual. The Left doesn't want a conversation about integration failures, cultural compatibility, or deportation enforcement. They want the conversation itself delegitimised.

The Brutal Truth

Europe is conducting the largest uncontrolled demographic experiment in human history. The results are coming in, and they are not what the idealists promised. Crime statistics, parallel societies, welfare strain, and terror incidents are not "far-right talking points." They are observable reality.

No pile of bodies — 10 high, 100 high, or 1,000 high — will ever be enough if the ideology forbids noticing the pattern. The radical Left has made clear that preserving the narrative is more important than preserving public safety, social trust, or even the lives of their own constituents.

The rest of us don't have that luxury. We can look at the BKA numbers, the failed deportations, and the explosion of violence Merz described and say what he said: we have a problem. Pretending otherwise doesn't make it go away. It only guarantees the bodies will keep piling higher — until the denial becomes impossible even for the most committed ideologues.

Or until the voters finally replace them.
